This up-tempo rockabilly-esqe jam imagines a world where two very different species, a porcupine and a bald eagle, fall in love. But they have a lot to overcome because they are so different and need very different things. This is not only a commentary on how love can take different forms, but the challenge of overcoming differences and allowing love to win. It’s rumored that this song was written about his relationship with his fiancé. The song culminates with Romeo’s lyrics “Porcupines and eagles making puppy love” repeating over and over till the end. There is always light at the end of the tunnel for Romeo.
